Platinum Diamond Amethyst Art Deco Ring, Vintage 1920s.
This is one spectacular ring from the gorgeous color of the focal amethyst to the unique design. Depending on how you look at the ring, or wear it for that matter, you get an entirely different feel for what the design represents. The first image in the series depicts a question mark. The second, third, fourth and the last image, in my mind's eye, depict a musical symbol, namely the clef, which is placed on the staff to identify the pitch represented by its lines and spaces. However, you wear or view the ring, it is magnificent. A fascinating conundrum as to how to wear it. Good question.
The cushion cut amethyst is bezel set in a "floating" frame and is surrounded by seven (7) old European cut diamonds starting from the right and extending to the left with an additional two (2) round brilliant cut diamonds, the smallest two diamonds on the left arc leading to the top. These two diamonds were chipped and I had them replaced to enhance the beauty of the ring. On the very top is an old European cut diamond in an open back bezel setting. The diamonds have a combined weight of approximately .75 carats and are SI 1/2 in clarity and G/H in color. The amethyst is medium in tone with good color saturation and free of inclusion. Unmarked but tested for platinum. The platinum ring measures 23mm long, 14mm wide and weights 4.07 grams. Size: 7. Comes with a GIA certified appraisal.
Whether this unique Art Deco ring is used as an engagement ring, dinner ring or cocktail ring, you will be sure to be thrilled with its brilliance and design.
